The world is becoming increasingly multicultural, and college students are encouraged to become global citizens. In the past decade, studying abroad has become an increasingly popular aspect of undergraduate study. An abundance of research has been done on the motives of the students and the benefits of the study abroad experience. Regardless of the reason behind studying abroad, a clear conclusion can be made that studying abroad can be used as a process of learning intercultural competence. (Koskinen and Tossavainen 2004).
